I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at YouthBuild Lake County in Nov 2014
Interview
I submitted my resume and cover letter online in October. I received an e-mail response to come in at a set time and date for a panel job interview which stated "do not respond unless you are not attending." Which I thought was odd, so I didn't respond. So when i get to the interview location, there was a big miscommunication with the person who scheduled the interviews and sent out the same e-mails to all 3 of us for exact date and time. All 3 candidates did not respond of course as instructed come to find out after one of the directors asked us some questions to figure out the reason why no responses back. Awkward sitting there with them waiting. Several of the people who were supposed to interview with me did not know there were supposed to be interviews that day, but they made due. The person who scheduled this in the first place wasn't even in the office so they couldn't even talk to her. The e-mail should have said respond if you are showing up. Even then, the time was wrong since we all showed up at same time. All 3 candidates sitting and waiting in the office was strange because we all got to talking to each other. All the directors and HR people interviewed us separately thank God) apologized profusely so that was fine. I did ask them when they expected to hire someone. They said about 2 weeks from then they would schedule the second round of interviews. However, after I dropped off thank you letters, it has been over 6 weeks now, and I have not received any response to at least let me know they have not decided to hire me or continue on with the interview process. Unprofessional! It looks like a very nice place to work and mission is great, but not professional in their HR scheduling and communications. At least give someone the courtesy to let them know you have not chosen them for the second round of interviews. I checked their website today and that position has been removed from their job postings. So they obviously chose someone. Train your employees on how to deal with prospective candidates and standard procedures.
