      5 Jan 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Warrington, North West England, England
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Zen Educate (Warrington, North West England, England) in June 2025

      Interview

Never replied to emails after doing the training for safeguarding, then they would not accept my enhanced DBS, so I decided not to continue with the job as no one replied to my emails.

      Application

I interviewed at Zen Educate (London, England)

      Interview

it was a great interview, friendly interviewer, like the thoroughness of the processes, supportive. I would recommend for anyone starting out as supply. Pay can be negotiated. Not much else to say about the interview itself.

      Question 1

How do you deal with safeguarding with a given scenario

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Zen Educate

      Interview

The interviewer was rude and treated me with disdain from the get go, but it is a minor issue in comparison to her claim that I could not possibly get a job as a TA, let alone an English teacher in a British school. I found it preposterous and highly demeaning because I have an MA in English (not just ESOL, but I studied English Literature, culture, descriptive grammar and probably more aspects of English language and Anglo Saxon culture than your average grad in the UK; I also do have UK QTS). Most of all, I have a PhD in English I was rewarded at the University of Rhode Island,in the USA where I taught and tutored English Literature, World Literature, Literary Studies, Writing and Composition and other subjects in humanities for 10 years (on a university level employed by the uni). I created my own syllabi, reading lists, wrote course reports and proposed new courses, etc in English Department. And ha!, according to her delusions UK schools are on higher than unis in other countries of the world??? She was interrupting me constantly and demeaning my experience and qualifications, even the fact I had UK QTS meant nothing to her. She said I had no chance to find a job as a TA, let alone an English teacher in a UK school. With 22 years of teaching experience and QTS (I was exempt from induction/NQTS by more relevant professional bodies than some recruiter that is probably 15 years younger than myself and does not have half of my qualifications or experience). And I have worked in British schools for over a year as a supply, yet according to her I had no right to do so.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Typical Questions... But she did not ask as many questions as she did make comments as to what I don't have in her opinion, and what I have not done, although she did not allow me to finish any anser.
