Recruiter call -> Hiring Manager 30 minute past projects / behavioral round -> Live Coding screen.
HM and recruiter calls were ok, and i was feeling positive. the live coding was on HackerRank and it starts with a LC easy question, then he transitions to a "medium" problem solving exercise involving finding duplicates in columns and rows. i solved both but kept getting interrupted by the interviewer, despite my understanding of the problem, and despite me listening to what he was saying, he would try to ask trick questions that i was able to respond.
i thought that, ok, so he keeps interrupting, let's collaborate on the problem solving, because he's clearly trying to take over my attempt at the solution.
he didn't have a test case, and when i attempted to run the code, be rebuffed it.
upon interruptions from interviewer, i would look to the left of my screen directly in Google Meet window, which caused my eyes to shift. Perhaps he thought i was using AI, but i never use AI to cheat during interviews.
after interview, i validated my solution and confirmed correctness. but had bad taste in my mouth after. shame on them.
although my problem solving approach arrived at the answer before the timing was up, interviewer probably wanted a memorized approach,.
they should really teach their engineers to stop interrupting and giving "hints" to the candidate when they are not stuck.
