      Credit Risk Analyst Interview

      2 Oct 2023
      Anonymous employee
      London, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Zopa (London, England) in Nov 2022

      Interview

At every stage I received a call from Zopa with feedback and detail about the next stage of the application process. It was a really nice change to the normal process of getting automated emails with no personalised feedback when applying to other grad roles. The actual interview day was great too. All applicants who made it to that stage were invited to the office in London. There were two individual case studies with different interviewers in the morning who were both great. The environment was very positive and laid back without lots of pressure/initimidating vibes. After the case studies we were provided lunch for free and then given a tour around the office. This included some presentations from senior analysts who explained what we could expect from the role. Overall, it was easily the best interview/application process I had ever done with Zopa making me feel valued the entire way. Would highly recommend!

      Interview

THIS COMPANY HAS COMPLETE DISREGARD FOR YOUR TIME. The process began with a 10 minute call from HR just to run through the role. I scheduled mine for just after 5pm, prepared myself and waited for the call to begin. However, nobody called! I doubled checked the email and I had been given no number to call having been told they would contact me. I emailed after about 10 minutes, waited another five and then called it a day. Not the best start! The next morning, I emailed again and we rescheduled for the same time. This time I did get a call and the lady I spoke to was very pleasant. I was told at the end of the call I would proceed to the tests and this was booked in for the next week. My call was scheduled for 4.30pm and expected to take 20-30mins. Again, I was never provided a number and the man who would be doing the test was due to call me. Again, I waited. After about 5 minutes I emailed the lady from HR as this was the only email address I had. She got back to me about ten minutes later saying that I would be getting the call asap. After 22 MINUTES I got a call which basically began with 'Hi, I got caught up in a meeting and I only have the room booked until 5 so we will work it out when we get there.' Obviously at this stage I was flustered, as was my interviewer. He couldn't properly explain the questions and I had no idea what he was asking me to do (it is all verbal). Despite this, we whizzed through the questions in 8 minutes so suffice to say it wasn't my best effort. He asked if I had any questions. I began to ask one and he cut me off because somebody wanted in the room and basically hung up on me. I got an email about an hour later saying I had been unsuccessful because of my inability to 'frame the problem'. Can't blame them for rejecting me based on my performance, however perhaps if I had been given a fair and proper chance to demonstrate my abilities there would have been a different outcome. The interviewer was rude, and my time as a candidate was of no value to them. Probably a blessing they didn't hire me!

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We read all our reviews and value feedback from you as it helps us see things from your perspective. On this occasion, when we were in touch over the phone, we had a fire alarm in the building which is why this was cut short (I know that sounds like a ‘dog ate our homework’ but it is true 😊). At the time we were in contact with you and explained the situation. With the callback, we can only apologise. It falls well below the standard we set ourselves, and what you should expect from us. As a company that’s growing rapidly we have a high volume of interviews and this call slipped through the net – we’ve spoken to the person responsible for that and will work on making sure that doesn’t happen again. If you’d like to talk through this interview in more detail we’re open to that – do get in touch with the team on the details you’ve already got, and we’d be happy to chat more. Thanks for your time and we hope to speak with you soon. The Recruitment team at Zopa.
