      Recruiter Interview

      24 Oct 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Zumper (San Francisco, CA) in Dec 2016

      Interview

I applied online and heard back quickly from the office manager who was helping out with recruiting efforts until they filled the vacancy. I had a pre-screen followed by a call with the Head of Business Operations and Revenue. Next steps was an onsite for an hour with the Head of Growth, CEO, Head of Business Operations, and Backend manager. The recruiter role was misleading because it was advertised as a 'generalist' role but when I interviewed, they were looking for someone with more of a 'technical' background. It was completely fine with me but I wished they had communicate that from the initial call as I did express that I am more strong on the G&A side compared to Technical. I had a really great experience up until the very end. As an early on start up - you want to create a seamless candidate experience from beginning to end. I interviewed in the morning and got a rejection email by 6PM. NEVER EVER reject a candidate the same day as their interview. Not only does that simplify a horrible candidate experience but definitely left a negative impression. By doing so, you're ghosting the candidate after they took the team and effort to speak and meet with you.

The interview process was great and very thorough as it should be since this is a professional role and any company should do a good job of vetting potential new employees.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Zumper in Mar 2017

      Interview

The entire process was thorough. I had the initial phone screen with the office manager, followed by a phone interview with the head of biz ops, who the role reports to. During the first onsite, I met with 6 of the managers in pairs and spent about an hour and half there. Everyone I met with asked a lot of thoughtful questions and were just great chatting with. I really got a good sense of the culture and product during the interview. The next day I was asked to come back for a second onsite and present a case study to the leadership team. The abstract was actually applicable to the role so it was pretty fun putting the presentation together. The Q&A wasn't easy. I was asked some pretty tough questions, but I appreciated them. Overall, my experience was really positive and the team made the interview process fun
