I applied through university. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at bp (San Francisco, CA) in June 2013
Interview
Multi-stage process only for research-oriented roles. Secured interview based on resume, the interview was for a single position with multiple qualified candidates applying. Interviewer was an engineer, not from HR, had content-specific questions. Makes sense for a large, successful company.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at bp (London, England) in Feb 2025

Tell me about yourself?
What do you know about BP?
Online application (CV submission) > numerical and verbal tests > competency interview (may be online, in person or over a phone call) > technical interview (one or two competency-based questions, followed by two or three technical questions) > assessment centre
Completed a hirevue interview, then had a teams meeting with managers for a technical interview that was followed up with an approval, potentially another round of interviews before decision. Very simple process and straightforward.
