I applied through other source. I interviewed at carwow in July 2022
Interview
First chat was with talent recruiter.
Second chat with with an engineer manager.
The next step was pair programming.
This is where it ended for me. While I am aware I did not do well during the last step and did not expect to move to the next step, I was still expecting to hear back from them with some feedback but instead they ghosted me even after contacting them for an update.
Ending a recruiting process by simply disappearing tells a lot in terms of culture and people care.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and share your experience with others. We would like to start by apologising for the lack of updates and closure on your recruitment process, this is definitely something that doesn't happen on a regular basis and we will do everything possible to ensure it doesn't happen again. Over the last few weeks there were some changes to our hiring focus for some of the roles, which resulted in delays with feedback for the position you considered with us. We would like to apologise again for the inconvenience caused and hope that you will be willing to consider a position with carwow in the future.
I applied online. I interviewed at carwow (London, England)
Interview
An online programming challenge was sent out which was to code a simple bitmap type structure. There was also a phone screening before the in person interview. The interview involved questions and also a practical element being paired with one of staff to work on a programming challenge.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at carwow (Holborn, England) in July 2017
Interview
I first noticed job advertised on stackoverflow, but applied directly on the carwow careers website.
A day later I received a screening call, and a technical test was sent, to be completed in my own time (with a focus on testing and quality).
I took my time and made sure I'd done a good job, since there was no time restrictions and it was quite a fun little side project in the evenings. I worked on it on average around 2 hours a night for a week, and when I was happy, I submitted my solution.
carwow were back in contact in a couple of days. Since I was really far from London, I then had a Skype call with one of the developers to make an extension to the original technical test, time-boxed to 1 hour. The Skype call was really just a chat, and to make sure I understood the extension. The coding took place by myself.
The same day I was asked to come down to the office in Holborn for a pairing session. carwow were very flexible and accommodating since I had some distance to travel.
The pairing session was a chance to see what things were like to be working in the office, and there was another technical task (another extension to the technical test), and then an informal chat with one of the tech leads.
They got back in contact later that day with the offer.
All in, the interview process was extremely smooth, and the team here are a great and talented bunch.
