I was pressured to come into the office for the first interview back-to-back with an HR interview at short notice because, as the recruiter claimed: "there's one other candidate we really like but your experience caught our eye so we'd like to hear from you before we make a decision but we need to do it quickly". I arrived 5 minutes early and waited 25 minutes before being invited to an empty room with an old laptop (looked like a ThinkPad X220) running Windows 7. I was informed that there was "a mixup" and the interviewer would actually be connecting remotely. I was forced to waste 10 minutes of the interview time troubleshooting and updating software so that it could run MS Teams (it wouldn't run otherwise). The interviewer started by telling me the we were short on time but insisted on the generic "tell me about yourself" with a few resume-related follow-ups, then stopped me mid-sentence 10 minutes early to say she has another meeting to get to, without explaining anything about the role. I was then taken to the HR interview, which involved more waiting, an interruption by a colleague to "help me print this" and another line of questioning about my experience without explaining the role or its conditions.
