Junior DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer Interview

      29 Sept 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Brugge, West Flanders
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at dotOcean (Brugge, West Flanders) in Sept 2023

      Interview

I recently went through the hiring process at DotOcean, and I must say it was a rather frustrating experience. I applied for a position at end of June, and it took a staggering two months to receive an invitation for a first interview. This sluggish timeline left me feeling fisheartened, and I even contemplated withdrawing my application. Finally, in early Septembre, I had my first interview, which went quite well. I believed things were finally picking up, but the process was far from over. I had to endure another waiting period until the end of Septembre to get a second interview wscheduled. Again, I was hopeful thinking that things were moving in the right direction. However, to my utter dissapointment, I received a rejection email with no constructive feedback. This abrupt ending to the process left me dissapointed. It's disheartening to invest so much time and effort only to be met with a generic rejection. I understand that hiring processes can vary, especially in startups where they might be dealing with limited resources. However, a four-month-long hiring process, with significant delays and an ultimate rejection without any feedback, is far from ideal. This experience has left me with a negative impression of DotOcean's hiring practices. If you're someone who values efficiency and a timely hiring process, particularly when considering a role at a startup, I would advise against applying to DotOcean.

Dear Applicant, Thank you for sharing your recent feedback regarding our hiring process. We were unaware of your review on Glassdoor until recently, and we sincerely apologize for the delays you faced and the lack of clear communication. It's important to know that our hiring process was not as streamlined as it is today as we tripled the number of employees in one and a half year from 10 to 30 people which caused major delays on handling the large inflow of candidates. Since then, we've invested heavily in improving our recruitment practices. We now have a dedicated person focused on ensuring a smoother and more efficient process for all candidates. We're also particularly proud of our onboarding process. We have a comprehensive onboarding dashboard designed to integrate new employees quickly into our company culture, habits, and tools. We regret that you didn't feel comfortable sharing this feedback with us directly during the process, as it could have allowed us to address any concerns in a more timely manner. As a small company this feedback is very valuable as we're continually working to enhance our hiring practices and ensure every candidate has a positive experience, regardless of the outcome. While we can't change your past experience, we hope you'll recognize that we take this type of feedback very seriously. We wish you the best in your job search. Sincerely, Sebastien COO
