I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at doxy.me (Charleston, SC) in June 2021
Interview
The interview was broken up into 3 days. The first was a 30 minute intro with the engineering manager explaining more about what doxy.me does and the role they are trying to fill. A large portion of the engineering team in based in Ukraine, so coming from the U.S it took awhile to understand some of the cultural differences in the interview process. Overall the initial meeting was straightforward, and I was excited to move on to round two.
The second round was a 90 minute technical interview with two of the team leads; 60 minutes of talking through technical questions and then 30 minutes to walk through a coding challenge. The challenge was an algorithmic problem, so understanding performant object and array manipulation is a must. It was a difficult task (for me) but the expectation was not necessarily to finish the challenge but to show how you approach and work through problems like that. The technical questions were relatively broad, and covered a number of high level concepts in Javascript and React specifically.
The third round was a series of three 30 minute meetings with other team leads in the company, mostly to establish a culture fit and gauge whether or not you would be able to work effectively with others. Ultimately I received and accepted the job.
