I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at iBestTeacher (Perth, Western Australia) in Oct 2019
Interview
Kind, comfortable and open Skype interview session. The interviewer took time to take the conversation to a less formal level. It makes it more of an informal teaching atmosphere, which is necessary to get the best picture of whether a teacher seems qualified for online teaching (since it usually isn't very formal)
I applied online. I interviewed at iBestTeacher (Bridgetown) in Aug 2019
Interview
I applied via indeed, got an invite to a preliminary interview. I admitted to messing up the time zones, apologized via email and was given a opportunity to go ahead the very next day. I was grateful and I made sure to thank her.
The recruiter asked if I was available and I confirmed, we started talking, went through the meet and greet. She informed me that they are a recruiting company and would recruit for several schools. She mentioned that people sometimes mixed up the time ones and seemed understanding.
What concerns me is that she assumed that I was from the US. My application clearly stated my address. I informed her that I was in the Caribbean, in the West Indies, and she proceeded to say: "South Africa." Are you in the Middle East? A little later she claimed that she couldn't hear me well, she was at home and the net connection wasn't good. The recruiter said that we should wait until the next day when she got to the office, and could use the wifi there which was much better. I tried asking her what time she would like us to continue and she disconnected the call. A few minutes later, I messaged to find out what time would be suitable for us to continue and got no reply. I messaged at the start of her work day when I saw that she was online and got no further response.
Each company reserves the right to make their choice. I would simply like some professional courtesy. I would have appreciated if the recruiter had been forthcoming about not wanting to continue the process instead of ignoring my messages after stating that we would continue when she got to the office next day.
