A recruiter contacted me on Linkedin about a marketing management position. I had an initial phone screening and went on to a phone interview with the hiring manager. The interview was very conversational and professional. I enjoyed the dialogue and learning more about this growing business. At the end of the interview, I was told I would be having a second discussion with the COO the following week--the initial interview was on a Friday. I sent a "thank you" email Monday and hoped to confirm the second interview. I emailed again to confirm the second interview on Wednesday and then reached out to the recruiter. I was assured the second interview would be happening soon. Five days later, there was still radio silence. So I then assumed the second interview was not happening. The recruiter finally informed me the company had decided to hire someone local to HQ. I thought the lack of response to email inquiries was unprofessional. I get that people are busy, but I didn't get the impression there were tons of contenders. It would have been better to communicate the decision to me directly, rather than leaving me hanging as I was quite interested in the opportunity.
