Interview

I applied in-person. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at micropsi industries (Berlin) in June 2024
Interview
The company reached out to me to ask for an in-person interview. At the interview, there was little interest in my extensive portfolio; instead, I was assigned a task that required me to learn a great deal about the company's product and machine vision technology. The information for the task was provided verbally, and I had to take notes. The next day, I was contacted by the recruiter to push for the task to be completed “within a couple of days” so it could be reviewed.
Once the task was completed, I was ghosted. To my follow-up email, the reply was that the “reviewer” (who is not a writer) was, first on vacation, and then sick. On the next follow-up several weeks later, I received a canned reply about “other candidates that align more closely”. There was no feedback of any kind.
It is not clear why the company reached out to me in the first place, or insisted on completing this task. Everyone seemed nice enough to begin with, but it turned out to be a complete waste of time and creative effort. I doubt that anyone bothered to look at the “free” work I completed, or that they would know what to look for. Assigning unpaid “take-home” tasks instead of reviewing portfolios would imply a lack of insight into software documentation processes.

Question 1
There was some small talk and a verbal description of the processthey wanted me to document as a "test assignment". I had to use pen and paper to take notes on the fly.
