We’re sorry to hear that your interview process with simpleclub fell short of your expectations, particularly with the take-home assignment’s design. Please know it is not our intention to have candidates perform actual work for the company.
Our goal with these assignments is twofold: to give candidates a realistic preview of the daily work at simpleclub and to allow us to fairly assess the skills relevant to the job. The focus of our evaluation is on understanding the thought process behind each candidate’s work, including the decisions and trade-offs they make.
With your submission, we observed an approach to database pagination that differs from standard practice. We provided opportunities to elaborate on the reason of that solution in several interviews with a time gap of several day between them. This, according to our expectations, would allow an applicant enough time to reassess topics which they couldn’t fully address during the prior interviews and eventually come up with a more technically proficient solution.
We embrace feedback as a core value within simpleclub, and we represent it also in our recruitment processes. This is why we have taken steps to refine the assignment guidelines to prevent any future misunderstandings. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
