I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at think-cell (Berlin) in June 2021
Interview
- Initially received calls from different recruiters, where you share your experience and answer questions about C++
- Need to pass online assessment, where you need to spend. up to 8 hours to find a issue in the implementation of the project, which assessed by pre-defined solution. In the end, if your solutions works it could be declined without any explanations. It feels like waste of time, where only one dedicated solution is accepted
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
Our assessment is designed to reflect challenges similar to those our engineers work on, and to provide a consistent way to evaluate relevant skills required for this role. We acknowledge that the assessment may feel time-consuming.
While we don’t provide detailed individual feedback, we do include guidance to help candidates understand the general expectations. We unfortunately cannot provide candidates with more detailed feedback tailored to their submission to remain fair towards all candidates.
Thank you again for your interest in think-cell. We wish you all the best in your future endeavours.
Best regards,
People Team
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at think-cell in Aug 2024
Interview
(For a solution to the interval map problem, google "github robjinman thinkcell_test" (without quotes))
9 hour coding assignment that is graded automatically. You get two chances to pass the automated tests, which don't just test for correctness, but for performance also. If you fail on the second attempt, you are informed that they will not be progressing your application further. No one will even look at your code, even if you've spent all day on it and it just contains one tiny mistake.

Question 1
To see the full problem description and its solution, google "github robjinman thinkcell_test" (without quotes).
Basically, you have to implement the assign method of an interval_map class.
Dear Candidate,
Could you kindly remove the part of your review regarding the think-cell test and the linked solution. The assessment is the first step in our recruitment process, and it is completely voluntary.
Posting a link to a solution online doesn’t help anybody. You are deceiving other prospects into copying a solution and risk being rejected – we will not be inviting candidates who submit a copy-paste solution.
The candidate who posted the solution has been contacted as they clearly breached the terms of the NDA, which was accepted before taking the test.
Kind regards
think-cell HR team.
Get a notification from hr. Looks like company is always looking for new candidates. Later they send homework on hacker rank. Unfortunately that’s all. I didn't pass. Be cereful they so non allow to submit task multiple times.
Dear candidate,
Thank you for your review. C++ developers are a rare find, hence we are always on the lookout.
The take home test is the first step in our application process. The task description outlines precisely what is required for one to succeed.
We thank you for the time you have invested in completing the assessment. Wishing you the absolute best in all your future endeavours.
Kind regards,
think-cell recruitment team
