AMSEC was founded in 1981 via a joint venture between SAIC and Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding. In mid-2007, it was reorganized -- certain operations were acquired by SAIC -- and, retaining its name, AMSEC became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Northrop Grumman.
