Axeda wants its software to exceed expectations. The company's device relationship management (DRM) software enables companies to use the Internet to access and control remote devices such as instruments, equipment, machines, and facilities. It also helps manufacturing and service companies perform automated service and monitoring functions, as well as providing secure communication between devices and field service personnel by including firewalls. Axeda targets clients in the medical instruments, industrial automation, technology, and office equipment industries. The company was created in 2005 when ITA Holding sold its DRM division and related assets to JMI Equity for $7 million.
