Medwell Capital (formerly BioMS Medical) wants to lend its assistance in biomedical research projects. The company had been working on its own protein-based biotech drug candidates, but it halted its research following disappointing late stage trial results on a multiple sclerosis candidate in 2009. Medwell then announced its intention to become a health care investment and advisory services firm and began acquiring stakes in (and providing consulting services to) drug developers, such as Spectral Diagnostics, Bioniche Life Sciences, and Novation Pharmaceuticals. In 2010 the company changed its name to Medwell Capital to reflect its shift in focus.
