Description BioVex strives to put hexes on head and neck cancers. BioVex Group has developed a virus-containing vaccine which works to prevent and combat certain types of cancer and chronic infectious diseases. The company's lead product, OncoVEX, makes use of an altered virus to attack solid tumor cells but leave healthy cells intact. OncoVEX has shown promise in treating metastatic melanoma and the company has plans to vex other cancers such as pancreatic and colo-rectal cancers. BioVex was acquired in 2011 by biotechnology giant Amgen in a deal worth about $1 billion ($425 million upfront, $575 million in milestone payments).
