Farmers dreaming of fertile fields can turn to CVR Partners. The company makes nitrogen fertilizers. From its fertilizer manufacturing facility in Kansas, CVR Partners produces ammonia and urea ammonia nitrate (UAN). The company sells ammonia to agricultural and industrial customers such as Brandt Consolidated, Interchem and National Cooperative Refinery Association and provides UAN products to retailers and distributors. To lower production costs, CVR Partners uses petroleum coke instead of the more expensive natural gas. It obtains the majority of its petroleum coke from parent company CVR Energy, which founded CVR Partners in 2007. CVR Partners west public on the NYSE in 2011, seeking to raise $269 million.
