Channel Five Snapshot
Channel 5 Broadcasting operates Five, a commercial broadcast network serving audiences in the UK with a full schedule of news, current affairs, and entertainment programming. In addition to its flagship channel, the company operates Five US, which programs mostly shows imported from America, as well as Fiver, a free-to-air digital channel available from Freeview (operated by DTV Services). Northern and Shell, the newspaper publishing company controlled by Richard Desmond, acquired Five in mid-2010 from RTL Group, the European television business controlled by Bertelsmann.
