Community Health Group is the oldest and one of the largest locally based HMOs in San Diego. Founded in 1982, the not-for-profit HMO provides health insurance products and related services to more than 100,000 members. Community Health Group's product offerings include its California's Healthy Families program, which provides low-cost health, dental, and vision coverage to children. The company also provides other managed care services to California communities, such as Medi-Cal low-income coverage and Medicare Advantage Special Needs plans, as well as third-party administration services.
