Description What's up, DOC? Digital Optics Corp. (DOC) makes photonic components and optical subassemblies for use in a variety of industries, such as aerospace, consumer devices, data storage, medical devices, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, sensors, and vision systems, among other applications. The company makes photonic chips in its own fabrication facility. In 2006 Tessera Technologies acquired Digital Optics for about $59 million in cash. Digital Optics will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Tessera, a provider of semiconductor packaging technologies. DOC was established in 1991.
