BECU began with a small group of employees at The Boeing Company in 1935. Their purpose was to help their fellow employees buy tools through pooling their money and offering loans.
More than 80 years later, BECU’s purpose is much the same: As a cooperative, we bring people together to improve the financial well-being of our members and their communities.
BECU has expanded; we are now one of the top five credit unions in the country. We’ve innovated through technology, from ATMs to digital banking apps. But we are, first and foremost, “people helping people,” a not-for-profit invested in the lives of its members and communities.
