Electric Insurance has a certain glow about it. Its long affiliation with General Electric was begun by its predecessor in 1927. Today Electric Insurance provides commercial insurance policies that include compensation, general, and excess liability insurance for GE in the US and abroad. Outside the GE family, the company is licensed throughout the US to underwrite auto, homeowner, renter, and umbrella insurance for all; an affiliate is licensed in Canada and the EU. Customers from outside GE make up almost half of its auto and homeowner policyholders. The firm serves more than 130,000 policyholders and distributes its products directly via mobile application and the web and through independent agencies.
