Belying its name, Elliptic Technologies takes a direct approach to enabling secure communications links. The company creates designs for secure embedded processors and other microchips used in Ethernet, WAN, and wireless networking gear. Elliptic sells some of its security designs as modular building blocks; chip makers can choose just the design elements they need for incorporation into their own chips. Elliptic also offers related software for implementing and optimizing its designs. Customers have included austriamicrosystems, Micronas, Mindspeed, Oki Electric, picoChip, PMC-Sierra, and Wavesat. The company's investors include Axis Capital and Venture Coaches.
