Products include Whittle (strategic mine planning) and GEMS (technical mining planning). The company has offices in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Russia, South Africa, and the US. Gemcom was created in 1985 as a spinoff from a consulting engineering company. In 2008 the company was acquired by JMI Equity and The Carlyle Group.
