A meeting with IRIDEX can be an eye-opening experience. The company makes laser systems and peripheral devices used to treat serious eye conditions including the three major causes of blindness: macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. The company markets its products under such brands as OcuLight and DioLite through a direct sales staff in the US and through distributors in more than 100 countries worldwide. IRIDEX divested its aesthetics business, which manufactured VariLite laser systems and hand pieces used in dermatology procedures and plastic surgery, in 2012.
