By land, sea, or air, Icon Polymer is a top gun among high performance rubber product manufacturers. The company's polymer-based lineup focuses on sealing and safety applications in aerospace and defense, and transportation markets. Products include wheels and track guards for tanks, bearings for marine vessels, and refueling hoses for aircraft. Icon operates as part of a group of companies, which also make technical parts for power (expansion joints), energy and construction (seals and pads), and general industry (vacuum belts). BAE Systems, Stork Fokker, and Bissell are prominent customers. In 2009 Icon was acquired through a management buyout, backed by LDC and Lloyds TSB, from Icon founder Richard Gogerty.
