Imperial Innovations provides services to help academic researchers commercialize new technologies discovered at Imperial College London. It licenses patents to other companies to be exploited, and it also helps creates startup companies to capitalize on new discoveries. Disciplines include life sciences, medicine, engineering, energy and environment, and software and IT. Innovations has equity holdings in almost 80 companies and manages more than 200 commercial agreements. The for-profit company, which is owned by Imperial College, was established in 1986.
