Description Inhibitex aims to inhibit deadly viruses. The company is pursuing the development of small-molecule antiviral compounds targeting diseases including herpes zoster (shingles), HIV, hepatitis C, and cytomegalovirus (CMV). The company was previously focused on developing anti-infectives for deadly Staphylococcus and other hospital-associated infections. Inhibitex continues to work on its vaccine development program targeting staph infections with Pfizer. It is also exploring diagnostics through a partnership with 3M. Global biopharmaceutical giant Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) acquired the company in 2012.
