A division of home-mortgage lending king HBOS, Intelligent Finance offers customers in the UK a range of direct banking products such as mortgage loans, individual savings accounts, personal loans, credit cards, and insurance (accident, sickness, and unemployment). The company's claim to fame is offsetting, in which the customer's checking or savings balance amount offsets the amount of interest he or she pays on mortgage. Intelligent Finance, which serves customers by phone and over the Internet, was originally launched in 2000 as Greenfield.co.
