The company distributes office furniture and provides design and architectural services to its clients, which include BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Chick-fil-A, and SunTrust Banks. The company ended a 60-year history with office furniture designer/manufacturer Steelcase in 2007 and entered into a strategic alliance with its competitor Allsteel. The family-owned and -operated company was founded in 1902 by chairman and CEO Inman Allen's grandfather, Ivan Allen Sr.
