Description LipoScience will let you know the lowdown on your lipids. The company's primary product, the NMR LipoProfile, uses nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) therapy to analyze blood samples and assess the levels of lipoprotein particles in the bloodstream. Such particles contain cholesterol and detection predicts cardiovascular risks more accurately than traditional cholesterol tests. LipoScience markets the NMR LipoProfile system through a direct sales force to health care providers and research labs. The company was founded in 1994 by its chief scientific officer, Dr. James Otvos and filed its IPO in 2011.
