MTS Medication Technologies gives pills a safe home until they get to the patient who needs them. Through its MTS Packaging Systems and MTS Medication Technologies International subsidiaries, the company makes medication punch cards and other medication dispensing systems that institutional pharmacies use to conveniently and accurately package the drugs they give to patients. MTS' custom packaging technology allows caregivers at some 4,500 pharmacies (at assisted-living, nursing care, and correctional facilities) to administer medicine or vitamins to large numbers of people while keeping close tabs on dosages. The company was taken private in a transaction led by equity firm Excellere Partners in 2009.
