This company hopes its market thinks it's HiWave or the highway. HiWave Technologies (formerly NXT) shifted its business in 2010 from licensing its audio technology that generates sound via a vibrating panel -- rather than a traditional diaphragm or cone -- to selling audio and haptic (or tactile) feedback electronic and physical components. The company's haptic transducers combine both haptic and audio functionality and are used largely in touch screen displays. HiWave's products are aimed at consumer mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, and also the automotive, industrial, and aerospace industries. At the time of the change in its name and business model, most sales came from Asia Pacific.
