Our roots

Founded by Marta and Zoe, OpenAgent was born out of the necessity for transparency in the real estate industry. We sought to create a service that provided clear insights into the performance of agents, akin to the detailed information available for overseas hotels.

How our service works

Our service remains complimentary for vendors. After a property is sold, the successful agent pays OpenAgent a referral fee. This arrangement aligns our interests with both the homeowner and the agent, ensuring our recommendations are impartial and that agents cannot transfer this fee to vendors.

The tech company, which assists homeowners in finding and comparing real estate agents, has experienced rapid growth, with over 2 million visitors to its website every year, and assisting over 20,000 homeowners per year to find the right agent to sell their property.

OpenAgent's vision extends beyond immediate financial growth. They aspire to make OpenAgent a household name in Australia, synonymous with real estate and home selling.

The company's strategy and potential have garnered the attention of prominent investors. Reinventure's managing director, Danny Gilligan, highlighted the disruptive nature of OpenAgent in the changing real estate market, aligning with their investment strategy of backing proven models and teams in large markets. Simon Cant, co-founder of Reinventure, has joined OpenAgent's board, further solidifying this strategic partnership. While the possibility of an initial public offering (IPO) has been discussed, it is considered premature at this stage.
