PetroAlgae hopes to help energy and agriculture customers grow greener. Operating through subsidiary PA LLC, the renewable energy company developed a model micro-crop production facility that grows microorganisms into biomass. As a fuel feedstock, the biomass can be converted into end products, such as diesel, jet fuel, ethanol, and butanol, as well as combustible fuel for power generation. These renewable fuels theoretically are made to replace petroleum-based fuels in the refining process. PetroAlgae sells licenses to oil and power companies that want to develop and construct their own bioreactors to produce fuel feedstock. It also offers licenses to agricultural customers that produce proteins for animal feed.
