Description North Hills Signal Processing (formerly Porta Systems) doesn't head for the hills to send smoke signals. The Long Island-based company makes military standard data bus couplers, network testers, wideband radio-frequency (RF) and video transformers, and a host of related hardware products, such as cables, connectors, and terminators. Aerospace companies, the US Department of Defense, and medical imaging equipment makers are among the company's customers for its signal processing products. In 2010 the company got out of the telecommunications equipment business by selling its Copper Products Division to TII Network Technologies for about $8 million in cash.
