Rea Contracting knows highways, byways, and other ways of transit. Founded in 1937, the company (formerly Rea Construction Company) was sold by bankrupt J.A. Jones to Lane Construction in 2003. Rea Contracting is a leading builder of bridges and highways in the eastern US (mainly in North and South Carolina). Its public division handles highways and other public works projects. Rea's commercial division provides paving for businesses, apartments, retailers, and other commercial clients. The structures division builds bridges, retaining walls, and dams. The company also operates hot mix asphalt plants in the Carolinas.
