Solon's solar energy modules are helping to keep a lot of lights on in Germany. The company's core businesses are the manufacture and sale of solar modules and solar system technologies, as well as photovoltaic systems for large-scale solar power plants. Solon functions from two operating segments: Sales (of solar modules, power plant systems, and projects) and Production (manufacture of solar modules). Solon, with subsidiaries in France, Italy, and the US, sells its products in more than 20 countries and gets about 65% of its revenues outside Germany. The company filed for bankruptcy in late 2011.
