Sonaecom deals with the constantly sonant and the electronic sonic. The Portuguese company is the subsidiary of the Sonae Group involved in the areas of mobile communications (nearly two-thirds of sales), wireline communications, multimedia, and the Internet. Its mobile phone network, Optimus, is one of only three such companies in Portugal. Additional subsidiaries include WeDo (business and multimedia consulting), Público (a news and information Web portal), Optimus Home (the home phone with no monthly fee), and Clix (a network of ISPs). Sonaecom serves about 3 million customers. France Télécom owns 20% of the company; Sonae Group holds the majority ownership.
