When it come to its business opportunities, Spectra Premium Industries (SPI) says, "Tanks -- tanks a lot". SPI makes of automotive fuel tanks as well as oil sending units, oil pans, and radiators for automobiles, heavy trucks, and recreational vehicles. Its SPI stores and delivers the its products to customers in North America and Europe from more than 200 warehouses. SPI's OEM customers have included General Motors and Chrysler, but the company's primary business is supplying new fuel tanks for the replacement market. SPI has found a niche for itself in the replacement fuel tank market, which has traditionally been dominated by used parts. SPI was taken private by members of its management in 2007.
