Description Talecris Biotherapeutics Holdings taps into the healing power of blood. The global biopharmaceutical company develops protein therapy products (derived from blood plasma) used to treat conditions such as immune system disorders, severe burns, and hemophilia. The plasma proteins help control bleeding and body function, as well as combat infection. Its lead product, Gamunex IGIV, helps in the treatment of immune deficiency conditions, leukemia, and with bone marrow transplant recovery. Its Prolastin product is used to treat emphysema. Talecris Biotherapeutics also operates plasma collection and processing centers in the US. The company was acquired by Spanish plasma products maker Grifols in 2011.
