If the words "tech" and "Trek" are not part of your vernacular, this museum experience may open your eyes to a whole new world. The Tech Museum of Innovation (known as The Tech), is a science museum focused on high technology. Boasting about 250 exhibits and the only IMAX theater in Northern California, The Tech showcases the latest gizmos and gadgets, as well as interactive exhibits and speakers' series. It also has two signature programs: The Tech Museum Awards: Technology Benefiting Humanity; and Tech Challenge, an annual design challenge for youth in grades 5-12. The museum is visited by more than 400,000 visitors per year. Members of Silicon Valley's high-tech community founded The Tech Museum.
