United Breweries Limited (UBL) is the king of India's beer market. The country's largest brewery, it makes the popular Kingfisher Beer, which is exported to more than 50 countries around the world. UBL also brews London Pilsner, Kalyani Black Label, Premium Ice, and UB Export. Altogether, its brands account for half of India's beer market. The company sells about 75 million cases (900 million bottles) per year, both domestically and abroad. UBL traces its roots back to 1857, when a Scotsman began brewing beer in India for British troops stationed there. The brewery is a subsidiary of the UB Group, a conglomerate chaired by billionaire Vijay Mallya, who is also a member of India's parliament.
