Description If you charged Valence Technology with battery, you'd be right. The company's rechargeable lithium polymer batteries are designed for use in industrial (forklifts), military (robotics), stationary (generators), and transportation-related (cars and boats) electrical power applications. Valence touts its U-Charge lithium iron magnesium phosphate (LiFeMgPO4) energy storage systems as having a longer life and being safer and more stable under extreme conditions than even lithium-ion batteries that use oxide-based cathode materials. The company's largest shareholder is real estate developer Carl Berg, who owns a 44% stake. Berg serves as both chairman of Valence Technology and his own Mission West Properties.
