Pros
Firstly, a lovely and engaged company to work for. Lockdown was a difficult time for everyone but the group as a whole and the individual teams all turned the engagement and openness. Friday afternoons became "me time", work life balance was and still is strongly maintained. The team sent out flat-pack christmas trees and cocktails or gingerbread making kits for the Zoom Christmas party. It's a fun company. Engineering at 11:FS is focused on building projects for interesting clients and there's definitely a drive to use best practices for coding, build tools and process. Release small and often, proven frameworks, pair programming, code reviews and kanban are standard. Internally there are engineering catchups to keep people in the loop if you've discovered something technically interesting. A new growth framework introduced recently adds depth and an excellent option for developers to grow their skills in different areas. Engineering leadership has been supportive and are always open to a discussion too.
Cons
2020 was a difficult year and as a number of other reviews have stated, aside from the difficult downsizing due to altered growth targets, a particularly difficult project made the going rather tough. Lessons have been learned, progress has been made and I genuinely see things moving in a better direction now - new projects and some fantastic new hires.
