Pros
The only good reason to work for 3Dlabs is the work/life balance they offer. In general the work load is very low, and you don´t feel pressured at any time in the project. The technology they're developing is really very impressive, and it is cutting-edge within the graphics industry. They´ve got flexible working hours and you even can start working at 11 a.m.! Free drinks is also a plus. Most of the people are friendly and is great to work with most of them.
Cons
Career opportunities are NULL at the company, probably it will take 5-10 years to become a team leader and have a couple of employees reporting to you. Communication is the worst I've seen so far in any company, there is one company presentation once a year and is really useless and disappointing. If you want to learn anything about what's happening at the company you will be better off reading some of their press releases. The employee morale is very low and the standard within the organization is the minimum effort rule, do whatever you are told to do and do not bother with any ideas, as it doesn´t pay off. What you hear about their employees is that any other company pays more than 3Dlabs. Their benefits are also low compared to most companies in the same market. Their starting salaries are to cry for, and get sure you get something decent because salary rises, when done, do not reflect your progress. Is the kind of company where you are not going to be compensated for the work you do and the only way to get a decent pay rise is telling them you are going to resign. Most of their senior leadership have not heard about management skills, they only focus on the technical part of their job and they don´t care ANYTHING about their employees. Most of the work you will be given at the beginning of your job is going to be extremely unchallenging because they don´t care about motivating people. Sadly, the most skilled engineers leave the company, and soon you will find out that there´s plenty of mediocre engineers among some really good ones that have remained there since the company´s big days. Their idea of training is doing some free tutorials on the internet.
