Pros

If you’re eager to round out your promotional skills, this is the place. Each employee is hand-selected by the entire team with the understanding that everyone brings a particular strength to the table, guaranteeing that every 3Pointer plays a critical role. The intimate setting encourages collaboration and peer-learning. This comes in handy as employees are encouraged to think outside the box and to drive clients’ success through creative solutions -- all of which is made a little easier with a multi-faceted team backing you.

Cons

At times, saying yes too often can lead to problems, causing internal efforts to fall to the bottom of the list. It’s a slippery slope, but this is common with agencies.

Pros

I experienced a lot of sides of the business, coming on as a summer intern before progressing into full account management roles over the course of a few years. I predominantly worked on the Fintech team, which manages tech clients that work across financial services, although there's a focus on the trading industry. In my opinion, there's no better place to launch a career than at 3Points. You'll get a lot of responsibility very quickly, and will directly play a role in servicing clients' communications needs. At few other places can a young professional get facetime with c-suite level executives, and gain the trust of them by guiding their comms strategies, so quickly. There's also few industries more intellectually stimulating than fintech. For those with a background in finance, the team at 3Points will help you dive further into the weeds, and for those without, the team will get you ready and help you fall in love with the industry. (I also can't forget to shout out the Chicago tech team, which has amazing people that do great work for a wider variety of tech companies across the Chicagoland area). 3Points provides a great work/life balance as well, which is rare for smaller companies that can easily work you to the bone.

Cons

As a small/boutique agency, your workload can be pretty variable depending on how many clients you manage/support. Days can get frenetic quickly, or you can find yourself in a bit of a lull, relatively speaking, as it comes to project workload. You may also find yourself helping across the range of the business, e.g. jumping in on content work as an account lead. The Fintech team can certainly dive into complex work every now and then, which might make you feel at a bit of a loss at times. You won't ever need to fully understand it, but there's a learning curve when it comes to the finance world. It's helpful there's a lot of institutional knowledge at 3Points so you'll always have someone to turn to to answer your questions.

Pros

3Points has an extremely collaborative work environment and truly believes in the power of teamwork. At 3Points, you are trusted with a lot of responsibilities right off the bat and you’re encouraged to identify and drive new projects. Everyone is treated as a leader and is empowered to make decisions. You are also encouraged to take initiative with the direction of your role at 3Points. Management is very transparent and is strong at maintaining constant communication with the employees. 3Points has great benefits and work-life balance, even more than the big firm I worked at previously.

Cons

The firm is heavily focused on clients in the FinTech industry. If you are new to that space, it can be difficult to come up to speed. 3Points has started offering resources to its employees to help accelerate this learning process. The company is growing and it’s an exciting place to work, but its growth comes along with growing pains such as frequently changing policies, role responsibilities, and processes. Business development is currently the shared responsibility of everyone at the company. When the client roster is not full, there is immense pressure to bring in a new client on top of performing your regular job responsibilities.
